This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies PilotLedger uses on our website and in the app, and how you can control them. Effective October 13, 2026.

1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember things between page loads, such as the fact that you are signed in. Websites can also use similar technologies, such as local storage, which keeps data in your browser without sending it to the server on every request. In this policy, "cookies" covers both.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company's service on that website are third-party cookies. We set first-party cookies ourselves, and Google Analytics sets cookies only if you accept analytics.
This policy is part of our Privacy Policy, which explains more about how we handle personal data.
2. The categories we use
Strictly necessary
These cookies are needed for PilotLedger to work. They keep you securely signed in, keep your customers signed in to your customer portal, remember your cookie choices and save your free invoice generator draft in your own browser. Because the site cannot work properly without them, they are always on and do not need your consent. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site, including signing in, will stop working.
We use 5 items in this category. Our sign-in cookies are HTTP-only, which means scripts on the page cannot read them, and secure, which means they are only sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Analytics
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors find and use our website, such as which pages are read and where visitors come from, so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics for this (2 cookies), and Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and reports only aggregated page views.
Analytics are off until you opt in using the cookie banner. If you decline or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is not loaded, its cookies are not set and Vercel Web Analytics does not run.
What we do not use
We do not use advertising, retargeting or social media tracking cookies, and we do not allow third parties to place advertising cookies through our site.

Durations are the maximum time a cookie stays in your browser unless you delete it sooner. Signing out ends your PilotLedger session and revokes it on our server.
We review this list when we change the site. If we add a cookie in a new category, we will ask for your consent before setting it.
4. How to change your choices
Cookie settings
Use the Cookie settings link in the website footer at any time. It reopens the cookie banner so you can accept or reject analytics. If you withdraw consent, we stop loading Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics. To remove analytics cookies already set, clear them in your browser (see below). Your choice is stored in the pl_consent cookie for 12 months, after which we will ask again.
Browser controls
Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies and site data. Look in your browser's settings under Privacy or Site data. Blocking all cookies will stop you signing in to PilotLedger. Clearing your browser's site data will also delete any invoice generator draft saved in local storage.
Google Analytics opt-out
You can stop Google Analytics on every website you visit by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out of analytics and do not load analytics while the signal is present. There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond to the older Do Not Track setting. Since we do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking and analytics need your consent, Do Not Track does not change what we do, but you can always decline analytics in the banner.
5. Cookies on our customers' portals
When a business that uses PilotLedger turns on its customer portal, its customers sign in through PilotLedger. We set the portal_token cookie to keep them signed in. It is strictly necessary and used only for the portal.
6. Changes to this policy
If we change the cookies we use, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Where a change needs your consent, we will ask for it through the cookie banner.
